Interactive maths activities for Grade 2 children that strengthen core skills and help children progress with confidence to more advanced concepts.
✔ Practice with speed and accuracy tests
✔ Calculation strategies, not just memorization
✔ Adaptive learning based on the child’s level
✔ Progress tracking and identification of difficulties
Prerequisite Skills
For smooth progress in Grade 2, the child should ideally have mastered:
• Single-digit additions with totals up to 18 (TEST 1)
• Subtractions from 10 to 19 (TEST 2)
• Multiplications with results up to 21 (TEST 3)
• Divisions of numbers up to 21 (TEST 4)
These operations should be performed quickly and accurately, so that new concepts can be learned without difficulty.
Addition and Subtraction
With a solid understanding of basic operations, the child moves on to more complex calculations with larger numbers.
Multiplication
Multiplication is not taught only as repeated addition, but also through calculation strategies.
Examples:
For 6 × 7:
• find 3 × 7 and double the result
• or find 5 × 7 and add 7 more
Emphasis is also placed on:
• memorizing basic multiplication facts (2, 3, 5)
• using the commutative property
Example:
7 × 5 → can be thought of as 5 × 7
Division
Division is closely connected to multiplication.
Example:
56 ÷ 8
The child can recall multiples of 8 to find the answer.
Alternative calculation methods are also introduced where appropriate.
A strong understanding of division by 2 is especially important.
Other Grade 2 Topics
The program also includes:
• finding a fraction (1/n) of a number
• area
• perimeter
• telling the time
• problems involving time duration
Progress Monitoring
The program tracks the child’s progress and adapts the exercises, giving more emphasis:
• to concepts that have not been practiced enough
• to areas where the child makes mistakes
