Maths for Grade 3

Interactive maths activities for Grade 3 children that support practice and consolidation of more advanced mathematical concepts.

✔ Practice in basic and more complex operations
✔ Problem solving and strategies
✔ Adaptive learning based on the child’s level
✔ Progress tracking and identification of difficulties

The program includes practice in:

Addition and subtraction with three-digit numbers

Addition and subtraction with larger numbers are developed using similar strategies.

Multiplication and division

Emphasis is placed both on calculation strategies and on memorizing as many basic facts as possible.

Problem solving

As larger numbers are used, visual representation (drawing the problem) is not always easy.

In many cases, it is helpful to first think about the same problem using smaller numbers.

Fractions

When working with small numbers, visual representation is initially helpful.

Comparing fractions is first done using shapes and later with rules.

Area and perimeter

Area is first calculated by counting.

In the case of rectangles, the child is guided—through observation—to discover which operation can be used to calculate the area.

More complex shapes, where possible, are broken down into rectangles.

Time

Reading time on analogue clocks with minute accuracy.

Converting time between 12-hour and 24-hour formats.

Solving problems involving start time, end time and duration.

Progress Monitoring

The exercises adapt automatically, giving more emphasis to concepts where the child has difficulties or less practice.

Connection with Higher Grades

Many Grade 3 concepts reappear in higher grades, even in secondary school.

For this reason, it is often useful for students to revisit these lessons.
